RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

As one of the world’s largest service providers we assume a big responsibility. We aim to minimise any adverse impacts on the environment, which is why sustainability has high priority in our services.

We work closely with our suppliers and clients to find ways of avoiding needless harm to the environment, and are keen to assist our clients in further developing their own environmental strategy.

WE WALK THE TALK

We are proactive in innovating and thinking out of the box both locally and globally. This is why all of our staff restaurants are ISO 14001-certified for environmental management.

WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY IN, DAY OUT

We are committed to:

  • Reducing the water and energy used in our offices and production units.
  • Reducing carbon emissions from our vans and lorries.
  • Sourcing fresh seasonal produce.
  • Using organic foods – Eurest has been awarded the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s certification in both silver (60-90% organic cuisine) and bronze (30-60% organic cuisine).
  • Sustainable sourcing. As an example, we are on track to achieve our target of 100% sustainable fish by 2015.
  • Using Nordic Ecolabelled products and eco-friendly equipment.
  • Reducing food transportation by using local, seasonal produce.
  • Minimising food waste through optimised use of ingredients.
  • Reducing packaging waste from our supply chain.
  • Tracking, measuring and reducing the quantity of office waste (i.e. cardboard, paper, plastic, metal).
  • Increasing the volume of biodegradable disposable items.
  • Minimising consumption of aluminium foil and other products containing environmentally harmful substances.
  • Using ethical sub-suppliers, who are bound under contract to report on their progress and set ambitious targets together with our purchasing team and other stages in our supply chain.
  • Supporting local and regional farmers and producers by purchasing products made, cultivated and bred locally.
  • Full transparency in tracing and identifying products and suppliers in our value chain. This is how we ensure that sustainable ingredients are compliant with ethical and safety standards.
