38,000 Meals for the Volunteers Behind Grøn Koncert.
When Grøn Koncert tours Denmark each summer, thousands of volunteers work behind the scenes to make every event possible. And volunteers who work from early morning until late at night deserve good food.
That is exactly what our production and lunch kitchen has delivered. Over a period of 14 days, the team prepared and delivered more than 38,000 meals for volunteers at concert venues across Denmark.
Grøn Koncert is organised by the Danish Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, and all profits support people living with muscular dystrophy and their families. It is a cause and a community we are proud to support by doing what we do best: producing high-quality food on a large scale without compromising on quality.
On a daily basis, our production kitchen prepares more than 2,300 lunches for businesses through our Food & Co lunch service. Over the past two weeks, however, the team has demonstrated what is possible when production is scaled up: managing production, packing, logistics and delivery day after day – even when the workplace is a festival site instead of an office.
Leading the operation is our colleague Jesper Holmberg, who, together with a dedicated team, built the production kitchen from the ground up just 23 months ago.
“Thank you to Jesper for his leadership. But an operation like this is never accomplished by one person alone. It takes a strong team of chefs, production staff, drivers, planners and kitchen porters who have all contributed along the way. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together,” says Kristian Hofman-Bang, Operations Director at Compass Group.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who make Grøn Koncert possible – and to our colleagues who ensured they were well fed throughout the tour. We are already looking forward to next year.
