We believe in collaboration.
At Compass Group, we collaborate daily and find solutions across departments and areas of expertise.
And when it comes to larger challenges, we believe we must join forces with other actors in our industry to play better together.
That is why we are exceptionally happy to have become a member of the green think tank One\Third.
It was only a few weeks ago that we became part of their reduction agreement, ‘Denmark Against Food Waste,’ and now we are ready to invest even more energy into the collaboration.
“The climate crisis requires concrete action, and we want to be part of the solution. Through data collection and knowledge sharing, we aim to develop innovative solutions that can reduce CO2 emissions in the food industry. As a new member of the think tank One\Third, we look forward to being part of this important collaboration,” says Anne-Sofie Hattesen, ESG Director at Compass Group.
Membership will strengthen our food waste efforts and help us move further in the green direction. We were confirmed in this commitment yesterday when we participated in One\Third’s innovation conference SPIS\BAR.
At this year’s SPIS\BAR conference, one of One\Third’s initiatives, the focus was on the potential use of side streams to reduce food loss and waste. The day featured presentations from companies across the value chain and inspiration on how each of us and in collaboration can work to find innovative solutions to create value and utilize 100% of raw materials.
One\Third was established in 2019 under the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries and currently has 39 members. The think tank’s purpose is to anchor food waste work in Denmark.
A large part of this work involves mobilizing actors across the value chain to take more responsibility and form partnerships. Therefore, Lea Stoustrup Brandt, secretariat director at One\Third, is pleased that Compass Group, among others, has joined the initiative.
“Food waste is fluid and can easily be shifted from one part of the value chain to another instead of being genuinely reduced. Therefore, it is essential to collaborate and think across the food value chain. One\Third brings together the entire value chain from farm to table, relevant authorities, and experts in a collaboration, and we are very excited that Compass Group is now also part of this,” says Lea Stoustrup Brandt.
