It was a very special day for Zhenzhen Liu when she was awarded a silver medal for her gastronomic exam as a catering professional. It is an impressive recognition that reflects a high level of professional expertise.
Today, she uses her culinary skills in Compass Group’s production kitchen, where she helps prepare our Food & Co. lunch offering. Every day, we deliver around 1,700 meals to companies without their own canteen.
It is no coincidence that Zhenzhen Liu has found her way into the world of gastronomy, as she explains:
“My interest in food comes from my love of eating. I truly love food.”
As part of our culinary team in the production kitchen, Zhenzhen Liu helps prepare food from scratch using fresh and local ingredients. Strong craftsmanship and a passion for gastronomy help elevate the lunch experience.
For Zhenzhen Liu, it is all about understanding the ingredients:
“For me, it is important to understand the ingredients I work with. When you truly know your ingredients, you can improve the quality of the food and create dishes that not only taste better but also provide a better experience for those eating them.”
Curiosity and an understanding of local ingredients have been key to Zhenzhen Liu’s journey. When she moved from China to Denmark 17 years ago to study at university, much of the Danish food culture was new to her.
Alongside her studies, she got a job at a sushi chain, which became the beginning of a career in the food industry. Over the past 15 years, she has held several roles, from kitchen assistant to head chef.
With strong gastronomic competencies, Zhenzhen Liu helps elevate the quality of lunch for the many guests receiving meals from Food & Co. Her silver medal from her education is a clear reflection of this effort.
