When a Strong Service Mindset Opens Doors: Meet Durga, Who Makes a Difference to Everyone Around Her

There are colleagues who not only solve their tasks but also lift the atmosphere, the team, and the entire workplace around them. Durga is one of them. That’s why she has just been awarded the Can-Do Award in this quarter’s Be-A Star program.

Although Durga has only been with Compass Group since April 2024, she has already made a noticeable impact.

Josephine Wagner, Culinary Consultant at Compass Group, works closely with Durga and describes her as follows:

“Durga always brings huge positive energy. She fights not only for herself but for all her colleagues. She is always a pleasure to work with. We are lucky to have her!”

Durga herself describes her motivation like this:

“It’s the people around me who have inspired me along the way. Their positive energy and inspiration make me want to keep going every day.”

But Durga’s journey began far from Compass. As a young woman, she moved to Denmark alone from Nepal. She studied full-time while working several jobs to make ends meet. She has worked as a waitress, a piccoline, and a cleaning assistant.

No matter the task, she has always shown dedication, commitment, and a strong service mindset. Her approach is simple: every experience can be useful if you meet it with the right mindset.

Within a few months of joining Compass Group, Durga went from handling daily tasks to taking responsibility for the café, and after six months, she was promoted to supervisor.

On receiving the Can-Do Award, Durga says:

“I could hardly believe it. It’s the greatest motivation for me. I’m so happy to be at Compass Group. It’s the perfect place for me.”

Durga’s development shows how willpower, commitment, and positivity open doors and create opportunities: for herself and, most importantly, for everyone around her.
